Court Cuts $5 Million Fee Award, Calling It An Unnecessary “Rolls Royce” Defense
California’s 4th District Court of Appeal ruled that a trial court erroneously “rubber stamped” $5 million in attorney fee requests from three big firms that simultaneously represented the former trustee of a late shopping mall magnate’s estate. The firms – Loeb & Loeb, Jones Day, and Greenberg Traurig – represented Patrick Donahue, brother of the late Daniel W. Donahue and trustee of his estate; Danial Donahue was chairman of Donahue Schriber Realty Group Inc., a California real estate firm that owned numerous shopping centers.
