California State Senate Pushes for Meal Break Exemptions for Transportation and Construction Workers
An Act to Amend Section 512 of the Labor Code, Relating to Employment

The California State Senate has approved on second reading a bill that exempts employees in a construction occupation and commercial drivers that are covered by a collective bargaining agreement from meal period laws.
The proposed legislation, known as AB 569, introduced by California Assembly Member Bill Emmerson, a Republican, in February 2009, is ready for third reading after its filing for that purpose on July 16, 2009.
